Questions

1. I chose this object because most people overlook paper, even though they use it in there daily lives. The disregard it not thinking anything about it. So i wondered what would happen if i gave it a personality.
2. How i gave the object character was by  putting it in places people normally see it in, but in a picture. In a photo you can study the object and instead of overlooking the object you give it traits. The personality in these 3 photos are lonely,sad or even misused.

Self Evaluation

1. I think i got a 1/3. The prints are not as clear as i would like them to be and there are some scratches on them. The contact sheet turned out well but the prints didn't which is why the 3 i chose aren't that good. I think the idea i tried to communicate didn't come out as I'd planned but nonetheless, you can see the general idea.

Definitions

Shutter - Works like an eye, it is the part of the camera that lets light in. When closed, the lens is blocked which means no light can get in, when it's open,lights comes in generating a picture.
Shutter Speed - The amount of time that the shutter on a camera is open for. The less time the more defined of a picture, the longer it's open for gives you a more slurred picture.
1 second - Good for taking pictures or a crowd or of someone running,blurs image a little
30 seconds - Great for nights shots of a city, waterfalls to make the water have a smoother effect.
1000-8000/sec - Will completely freeze the frame. Very crisp lines and defined. When subject is in motion, this speed will make it look like it's entirely stopped.
Shutter Priority - Shutter priority means that it's a setting on a camera that allows someone to choose a specific shutter speed while the camera is adjusting the aperture to ensure correct exposure.
Exposure -  Exposure is the total amount of light allowed in a photograph. It is better to have a medium setting exposure so your photograph isn't to light or to dark.
Aperture - Aperture is a hole or an opening through which light travels.
ISO/ASA - They are kinds of film speeds.
Bulb -  Bulb is a shutter speed setting on a camera that allows for long exposure times under the control of the photographer.
Cable Release - Cable Releases are the mechanisms attached to cameras that let photographers to take photos from a distance. They consist of a wire, extending from the camera, that has a button trigger at the end of it. The photographer holds the button end of the cable and presses to trigger the camera shutter to take a photo.
Tripod - A tool used to hold your camera steady.
Bracketing - Bracketing is the general technique of taking several shots of the same subject using different or the same camera settings.

Defining Aperature

Aperture is a hole or an opening through which light travels. The larger the diameter of the aperture, the more light reaches the film/image sensor, and vice versa. The smaller the aperture, the larger the depth of field, and vice versa. The greater the distance between the lens and the subject, the larger the depth of field. The shorter the lens focal length, the larger the depth of field.

Pictures About Me

I like to take pictures of people. Candid or not. I find it interesting to capture different emotions people are feeling and to tell stories with each photo.

 I also like to take pictures of scenery and landscapes because they always take good pictures.

I'm curious about taking pictures in black and white. I've never really tried to take pictures in that setting so i would love to learn more about how and when to use it.

I'm curious about shutter speed. I love pictures like this where you can create your own images within the picture. I would love to take a picture like this sometime.

I am proud of this picture because I think it turned out really well. I think it's the focus of the foreground to the background that creates a really cool looking effect on the photo.







My first experience with photography was in grade 4 when I joined photo club! I joined because my friends were in it so I thought I should be too. But it turned out to be pretty fun and I got pretty interested in it. This is why I chose it as an elective in grade 9 and 10.

Personification

When I saw this wire, I didn’t really give it a second thought until I noticed all the other wires. They weren’t curled as much and were rustier, which gave it sad and tired traits. The picture shows that this wire is wound up and just waiting to explode ,much like the personality of someone who is happy, excited, and anxious.    

I used macro mode to show all tight coils and detail of the wire.
