I placed the light on a 45° angle high above him on his right side.

Glamour

To create this effect i placed the light as directly infront of him but dimmed it so it would create a softer effect on his face.

Side

For this effect, I placed the light to the right side of Ben where it was on the same level as his head.

JR - Response

1. My school community is very diverse. We are diverse in people, cultures and the fact that we are one of the only schools to focus on the four arts.
2. I value the unique people that go here and the different experiences I get to be apart of each year. We are a very accepting and creative school and we are always working together on new projects.
3. It matters because, without it, we wouldn't be able to express ourselves in different. We would be constricted to talking which isn't nearly as fun as art.
4. By taking pictures of things i like and want other people to see.

JR - Andrew G

Andrew G is from Toronto,Canada. Because he is from Canada, I chose him to be my favourite Inside Out participant. Andrew says "I stand for the expression of voice, of the written word and the emotive body. Let’s find importance in an impermanent world."

JR - Inside Out

a) How does JR’s art make a difference? Site a specific series and specific images. Explain the reason for the images and potential impact that it has on the community.

b) JR's art definitely makes a difference in the world. By taking pictures, blowing them up and putting them in places where your forced to look at them, it makes you think. Why is the picture there? What does it mean? So people start to question themselves and the community as a whole communities perspective starts to change. A specific example of this is the FACE 2 FACE project. He went to a conflicted county that has a community hating each other because they each think that the other doesn't have a right to live here. He posted pictures of different people onto the buildings of the city and asked people which person was of which race, and they couldn't tell him. The fact that they couldn't tell him shows that what being mad at someone for something that's out of they're control is pointless. It changed they're perspective. Get to know someone before you judge them.

Questions

1. I chose this object because most people overlook paper, even though they use it in there daily lives. The disregard it not thinking anything about it. So i wondered what would happen if i gave it a personality.
2. How i gave the object character was by  putting it in places people normally see it in, but in a picture. In a photo you can study the object and instead of overlooking the object you give it traits. The personality in these 3 photos are lonely,sad or even misused.

Self Evaluation

1. I think i got a 1/3. The prints are not as clear as i would like them to be and there are some scratches on them. The contact sheet turned out well but the prints didn't which is why the 3 i chose aren't that good. I think the idea i tried to communicate didn't come out as I'd planned but nonetheless, you can see the general idea.
